ORDINANCE NO. 568
AN ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE THE RETENTION AND EXPENDITURE OF SURPLUS TAXES AND GRANTS; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS AND RATIFYING ACTIONS PREVIOUSLY TAKEN RELATING THERETO
WHEREAS, the voters of the Town of Holly have determined that the Town should be allowed to help defray the costs of governance within the Town by the retention of surplus revenues; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Holly have determined that the public interest and the needs of the Town require that provision be made for the retention of surplus tax revenues and grants; and
WHEREAS, the text of the ballot submitted to the voters of the Town of Holly was as follows:
SHALL THE TOWN OF HOLLY, COLORADO, BE AUTHORIZED TO COLLECT, RETAIN AND EXPEND STATE GRANTS AND THE FULL AMOUNT OF ALL REVENUES RECEIVED IN 1996 AND EACH SUBSEQUENT YEAR, FOR DEBT SERVICE, MUNICIPAL OPERATIONS, AND CAPITAL PROJECTS, WITHOUT ANY INCREASE OR ADDITION OF TAXES OF ANY KIND?
WHEREAS, a majority of the votes cast on the ballot issue submitted at the April 2, 1996 election were in favor of such question. As a result, the Town (acting through the Board) is now authorized to proceed with all the necessary actions to retain surplus taxes in accordance with such question.
BE IT THEREFORE ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF HOLLY, COLORADO THAT:
THE TOWN OF HOLLY, COLORADO, IS AUTHORIZED TO COLLECT, RETAIN AND EXPEND STATE GRANTS AND THE FULL AMOUNT OF ALL REVENUES RECEIVED IN 1996 AND EACH SUBSEQUENT YEAR, FOR DEBT SERVICE, MUNICIPAL OPERATIONS, AND CAPITAL PROJECTS, WITHOUT ANY INCREASE OR ADDITION OF TAXES OF ANY KIND.
